Ragodin (coypu in English), Roe deer (plenty round the area), Fallow deer (not as plentiful) Red squirrel (resident in our garden), Wild Boar (very plentiful), Rabbits (not that many), Hares (more than rabbits), Stone Martin (lots and lots), Stoat (quite common), Weasel (quite common), Polecat (scarce), Water rats (common), Rats (common), Field mouse (our field is alive with them), Voles (same as field mouse), Moles (the whole area has lots of these), Shrew (same)
Common Buzzard (lots even in our garden), Honey Buzzard (same), Fish Eagle (fly’s over regularly), Kestrel (resident in our field), Sparrow Hawk (resident in our field), Little Owls (plentiful and are residents with us), Barn Owls (same again), Tawny Owls (same), Red Kite (visits the field on regular basis)
Pheasant (lots released in our hamlet), French partridge (lots out here obviously), English partridge (lots also out here not so obvious), Woodcock (very plentiful), Mallard ducks (once again very prolific), Snipe (just as many as woodcock), Canadian Geese (few of these on the local lake)
Common crow (lots and lots), Rook (same), Jackdaw (even more), Jay (never seen so many before), Magpie (lots even in our field)
Red starts (lots even nesting close to the house), Robin (always around), Great Tits (lots and lots), Blue Tits (same as great tits), Pied Wagtail (always here), Blackbird (resident in the garden), Thrush (once again resident), Common Sparrow (lots, can’t keep out of the chicken food), Jenny Wren (resident in the garden), Green Woodpecker (all the time in our trees), Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (have a family of these visit our walnut tree all the time), Cole Tits (not too many around), Nuthatch (lots of these round the area), Woodpigeon (not many)
Heron (never seen so many before), Ibis (quite often), Chinese Crane (only get to see them twice a year but in the hundreds), Golden Oriole (when here stays around the field), Hoopoe (lots in late spring through summer), Cuckoo (when here stays in our trees), Lapwings (lots all around), Swallow (nesting in the barns), House Martins (also nesting in the barns)
Canadian Geese (few of these on the local lake), Great Crested Grebe (resident pair on local lake), Kingfisher (lots of these by local rivers), numerous amounts of duck that I cant identify at the moment.
Common Toad (lots), Slow Worm (found one in driveway), Green Tree Frog (ask me the story!!!), Common Newts ( lots of these in the garden and field), Salamander (lots of these too), Snakes (lots of these some of which are poisonous, so I’m not getting close enough to identify), Bats (so far two different types but dark cant tell what ones), Brown Trout (lots I rivers and have caught them), Rainbow Trout (same as before), Common Carp (cant believe the size of these wild in rivers), Mirror Carp (same again), Leather Carp (same), Pike (lots of these in rivers and lakes), Perch (same), Rudd (same), Roach (same), Chubb (same), Dace (same)
