Self Sufficiency en France

Well family and friends started to arrive and the rooms were in a usable nearly finished state, just needing thresholds and a shower curtain in one of the rooms.

On the 27th June not 'the hottest' but probably the second hottest day of the year so far we were married at the local Mairie followed by a fish and chip supper and drinks at the local bar. I think it would be fair to say that we were all in a well oiled state when we arrived home. Something that some of us were regretting the following day, especially I, due to the enormous amount of buffet food i had to make a start on, ready for the handfastening ceremony and reception on Sunday.

Sunday was the day that we considered to be our real wedding so we were very nervous. We had about 120 people watching us carry out the hand fastening ceremony and then eat and drink till their hearts content. Sunday also turned out to be the hottest day of the year hitting temperatures of 38 oC . Hot Hot Hot but at least it wasn't raining.

After a fantastic weekend the visitors started to make their ways back to England and as the last guest left about a week later we decided that we deserved to take some time off (kind of like a honeymoon) or a long sleep really.

Oh it was so difficult to muster the energy to start again after taking time off, it had only been a couple of weeks.

We had been blessed with very generous friends and family when it came to gifts for our wedding most people had given us money so that we could continue with the renovation which we had banked and planned to use for materials , unbeknown to us this was not going to be the case EDF had other ideas.
