The skyline is dominated by the silhouette of the imposing mediaeval collegial which is open to the public all year round, there are guided tours that can be arranged through the local tourist office or if you prefer walk around at your leisure quietly taking in the impressive architecture. There is a weekly service on Sundays at 9.45 am. Not far through the old streets there is a Carmelite convent that also has open days throughout the year, along with café/bars, restaurants and shops.

Here you can while the day away shopping in the many boutiques and watching the world go by whilst enjoying a drink in one of the many street cafes, there is a fun park here called Futuroscope which is as its name suggests is rides and experiences of the future. About half way between Poitiers and Le Dorat is a fantastic day out for all the family at La Vallee des Singes we can honestly say that if you do nothing else when you are here go and see this it is amazing it is a beautiful monkey park where the monkeys are not behind bars or glass but free roaming, don't forget your camera there will be plenty of photo ops.

Situated approx 15 minutes drive away Bellac is busy town on the n147 it has a 12th century church, theatre, beautiful views over the river, a rugby/football stadium, supermarkets along with shops, bar/cafes, restaurants and a Saturday morning market where you can buy local produce.
This is a must to visit for a day out as you can walk around the old town left exactly as it was after the Germans attacked in 1944.

A large town of interwoven side streets and mediaeval chateaus home to geants du ciel bird of prey centre. There is a large market held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning offering fresh seafood meats, cheeses, wines, flowers amongst an array of other items.
